Rebar Weight Calculator

This rebar weight calculator turns a bar size, length and count into total weight, useful for delivery, hauling and pricing by the pound.

Quick answer

Rebar weight is bar length times weight per foot. #4 bar (1/2 inch) weighs 0.668 lb per foot, so a 20-ft stick is 13.4 lb, and ten sticks weigh 133.6 lb (about 60.6 kg). Heavier bars climb fast: #8 bar weighs 2.67 lb per foot.

How to calculate rebar weight

Rebar is sold and shipped by weight, and each U.S. bar size has a known weight per foot. Multiply that by the total length. The bar number tells you the diameter in eighths of an inch: #4 is 4/8 in, or 1/2 in.

weight = bar length × number of bars × weight per foot
kilograms = pounds ÷ 2.20462

Example: ten 20 ft bars of #4 is 200 ft. At 0.668 lb per foot that is 133.6 lb, or about 60.6 kg. One bar alone weighs 13.4 lb.
